Broadcast Awards 2021 success for Darlun

28 May 2021

Warm congratulations from TAC to our member Arwyn Evans from Darlun and his team on winning the award for Best Lockdown Programme: News, Documentary and Factual at the Broadcast magazine Awards 2021 for the programme Dim Ysgol: Maesincla. The ceremony was held online on 27 May, and the Darlun production for S4C took the award in a category that included productions for ITV, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4.

The programme was filmed during lockdown, and it gave us a chance to catch up with the children, the parents and the community staff of Maesincla during a period of sgnificant changes in the history of the school. Gareth Williams, TAC Chair, said: “Congratulations to Arwyn and the team at Darlun on their success. It’s great to see a variety of production companies from Wales regularly being nominated for major awards throughout the UK now, and it’s a reason to celebrate when they win. The story of the school and the community in Maesincla has lifted viewers’ spirits during this last period, and I’m sure the children, parents and supporters of the school will be very pleased to hear the news. It is excellent to see a production from Wales for S4C reaching these heights. ˮ

The Broadcast Awards celebrate the best productions in the broadcasting industry in the United Kingdom.
