S4C calls on Welsh Government to support the production sector

17 March 2020

S4C Chief Executive Owen Evans has written to Ken Skates, Minister for the Economy, Transport and North Wales at Welsh Government requesting that he formulates a plan to help production companies and freelance workers who are, and will be, affected by coronavirus COVID-19. Mr Evans states that he has met with many companies and individuals who have lost work for weeks and months to come, and urges the Minister to create innovative measures to combat the effect of this on the businesses affected and on the Welsh economy, which normally benefits greatly from the contribution of the creative industries.

Gareth Williams, TAC Chair, said: “TAC is working with S4C to communicate updates to TAC members and the wider production sector whenever the opportunity arises. We are very aware of how difficult the situation is at present, and we understand the sector’s concerns. We appreciate everyone’s efforts in such a challenging period. If any of our members are worried or would like to discuss any issues, you’re welcome to contact me via e-mail or Luned Whelan.ˮ
