TAC members scoop prizes at New York Festivals

Two programmes made by Welsh independent producers have won awards at the New York Festivals International TV & Film Awards 2017, with a third reaching the shortlist and receiving a finalist’s certificate.

The winning programmes were the film, Yr Ymadawiad – The Passing, produced by Severn Screen in collaboration with Boom Pictures and Ffilm Cymru Wales for S4C, and the documentary, Philip Jones Griffiths: Ffotograffydd Rhyfel Fietnam, about the world-famous Welsh photographer, produced by Caryl Ebenezer and Luned Phillips and co-produced by Rondo Media and South Korean production company, JTV. The finalist was Aberfan: Cantata Memoria, produced by Hefin Owen of Rondo Media for S4C, which was the premier broadcast of composer Karl Jenkins and writer Mererid Hopwood’s tribute to the people of Aberfan on the fiftieth anniversary of the tragedy in a South Wales mining community.

Yr Ymadawiad – The Passing will be broadcast in the near future on S4C.
