Welsh Language Workshop

In March 2024, S4C presented a final version of their Language Guidelines together with the message “S4C’s fundamental objective is to provide a high-quality … service through the medium of the Welsh language.”

TAC and S4C have been working together over the months since the guidelines were published to organize a training workshop that reflects the language guidelines and is relevant to anyone involved in scripting in the Welsh language.

TAC and S4C are proud to announce that we will be holding an in person language workshop in Cardiff in July 2024.

The workshops will include an introduction to the language guidelines, looking at the principles of the guidelines and how the guidelines have an impact on content.

We will also look at the use of language that is suitable for the ‘genre’ and the target audience, examples of good practice, reference to syntax and idioms, and written language on the screen.

Sara Peacock (S4C’s Welsh Language Strategy Lead), S4C Commissioners, and Non Griffith (Non Griffith Media) will be present at the workshop. Professor Elin Haf Gruffydd Jones will also be joining the workshop; she has worked in the field of European minority languages for three decades, focusing on media, the creative and cultural sectors, translation and language policy and practice.

The workshop will be half a day long, starting at 10:30 and finishing at 13:30. Tea and coffee will be available from 10:15 before the training starts.
